National Sport Day is just round the corner with Qatar University (QU) all set to host a number of events to mark the day at Katara Cultural Village. The events will include a paragliding show led by an expert team from the QU Air Sports Club along with other sporting events like sports training sessions and activities for children and adults, beach volleyball and beach soccer championships.

This year National Sport Day will fall on February 14 and QU will mark this day in collaboration with the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Katara Cultural Village and Community College of Qatar (CCQ).

The QU event will also include a health booth and healthy nutrition corner by a team from the Physiotherapy and Sport Injury Unit at QU Student Activities Department in conjunction with QU College of Medicine and Sport Science Program, along with a sports booth hosted by QU faculty, coaches and students. Visitors to these booths will be educated on the significance of leading a healthy lifestyle, and how exercise is a vital part of that lifestyle. Participants will also be able to have their body composition tested for free, along with their core body muscular endurance, lower body power, upper body strength, agility and vital capacity.

QU’s aim is to involve all members of the community in Qatar and create awareness on the importance of a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise. For this, QU is engaging its students as participants, coaches and organizers at the event to fulfil its aim of its students graduating to be successful leaders in society, reported The Peninsula.
