In line with its initiative to develop and promote the various aspects of the tourism industry in the Kingdom; the Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), HE Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, paid a visit to Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre. He was accompanied by His Excellency, the Moroccan Ambassador to Bahrain, Mr Ahmed Rashid Khattabi.
The visit aimed to assess the word carving training workshop held at Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre which is a part of the sustainable training program that was launched by BTEA in cooperation with the Moroccan Embassy.
“We are delighted to conclude the first session of this project, which is an important initiative that develops many aspects, where craftsmen’s skills are refined to make high-quality products that reflect special Bahraini features. The initiative also aims to promote this traditional industry among tourists, which then promote the unique Bahraini identity in this region,” said the CEO of BTEA, Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa.
During their visit to Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre, His Excellency briefed the Moroccan Ambassador on the program’s activities, and the work that was carried out, as they toured the Centre to see the halls that were prepared for the training program. At the end of their visit, they distributed certificates of appreciation to all the participants.
Commenting on this initiative, the Moroccan Ambassador praised the role of BTEA in strengthening the relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Morocco, by creating a platform to gain experience and skills from artisans among the two countries.
